Concluding the series is the story of Sanita, who convinced her parents that marrying young is simply not an option. Listen to Sanita's pursuit of education, and her astounding work advocating for children's rights—starting in her hometown.
Nurul, 14, is a model student who values studying above all else. But with only her mother Ida earning for the family, sustaining her education is uncertain. Even with the amended Marriage Law, marrying Nurul off to someone who can pay for her schooling has already crossed Ida's mind.
Marriage dispensation, a forged pregnancy certificate, and a quick decision by the religious court. These sealed the fate of Neng, who was allowed to marry at 15 due to loopholes in the amended Marriage Law.
The Constitutional Court ultimately ruled that the minimum marrying age for Indonesian girls be amended. Listen to Rasminah and Anggi, her lawyer, as they lobby the government to see the decision through, and take pride in the legacy they leave behind for their daughters.
Twenty years since she was first married as a child, Rasminah decided to challenge the system, even though the road to justice would not be easy. Hear how Rasminah and other survivors of child marriage worked with the 18+ Coalition to bring Indonesia's 1974 Marriage Law before the Constitutional Court.
